That question can be useful, but it may come too early.


For many founders, succession brings an internal conflict. One part of them wants the business to grow beyond them. Another part still feels responsible for protecting what they built.


From the outside, continued involvement may look like meddling or micromanaging. From the founder’s side, it may feel like responsibility, protection, or care.
